Sandbaggers Automated
Manuscript Management Software
DOS
to Windows Data Conversion Utility
It is recommended that you
have a blank, formatted 3.5" floppy disk handy for
the installation.
To save time (and to keep all
of the files together) Convert comes as a self-extracting
archive.
When you're done downloading
the file called cvtshp.exe you'll want to unpack
it.
- If you're using Win 3.1,
go to the 'File' menu in Program Manager and
choose 'Run...'.
If you're using Win95/98, go to the 'Start' menu
and choose 'Run...'
- Click 'Browse' and then
locate the cvtshp.exe file that you
downloaded.
- Click 'Okay'. After a
moment you'll see the 'WinZip Self-Extractor'.
- (This is where it's
handy to have a blank, formatted 3.5"
diskette--you're about to make the installation
disk for Convert.) In the middle of the window
you'll see a box with the words 'Unzip to
Folder'. This is the disk that will contain the
files you're about to extract. The default is the
A: disk drive. However, you can change that to
whatever you want. (If you do change it, make a
note of it because you'll need it later.) When
you're ready, click 'Unzip'.
- If everything worked
properly, you'll get a message telling you that
the files unzipped succesfully. Click 'Okay' to
acknowledge the message and the click 'Close' to
shut down the self-extractor.
- Now you're ready to
install Convert. If you're using Win3.1, go to
the 'File' menu in Program Manager and choose
'Run...'.
If you're using Win95/98, go to the 'Start' menu
and choose 'Run...'.
- Type 'A:SETUP.EXE'
(without the quotes) and press [ENTER]. (If you
unzipped cvtshp.exe to a different
directory, substitute that for the A:.)
- From here, the Convert
installer will take over. Follow the prompts on
screen until Convert is completely installed.
When that's done, the Convert program will be
available in the WinSAMM program group.
Double-click on the Convert icon to start the
program
- Follow the step-by-step
instructions for locating and converting your old
S.A.M.M. data.
